From Gathering Waters to Structured Life

03FAmily is a body of work that explores the third day of creation, focusing on the separation of land and sea, the emergence of plants, and the formative rhythms underlying natural structures.

This series interweaves geometrical precision and organic motion, drawing from biblical symbolism as well as data-based mapping. From the circular depictions of heaven to the squared geometry of the earth, and from the gathering of waters to the rhythm of green growth, each work echoes a cosmic logic—the silent, measured unfolding of life.

Through radial lines, mirrored patterns, and woven structures, 03FAmily visualizes the transition from formless chaos to structured multiplicity, where water flows into form and plant life begins to pulse with divine rhythm.

And God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it was so. God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good. And God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth.” And it was so. The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed according to their own kinds, and trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning, the third day.

The Silent Geometry of the Beginning

This section explores the early visual structures of plant life through circular forms, measured proportions, and radial line systems. Each drawing captures the rhythm of growth before it becomes visible—mapping how energy expands from a central point, how green radiates outward, and how botanical patterns align with mathematical principles like the Fibonacci sequence. These works mark the beginning of order and direction in the creation narrative: the silent yet precise geometry that underlies the emergence of vegetation.

Layers of Emergence

This section examines the layered unfolding of the third day of creation—the separation of water and land, and the beginning of vegetation. At the core of each work lies a circular form, representing the heavenly or aquatic realm, enclosed within a square format that signifies earthly grounding. From this tension between forms, radial lines emerge, suggesting a pulse that bridges sky and soil. Through both drawing and painting, these pieces trace how geometry, color, and medium reflect the ordered transition from chaos to life.

Materializing the Third Day – Woven Horizon

In this section, the rhythmic patterns of green growth are translated into textile form. The tapestry is composed of two horizontally arranged panels, woven using the double weave technique to create both visual and material depth.

At the center, a T-shaped steel rod divides the work into upper and lower halves—intensifying the contrast between light and darkness, and emphasizing the mirror-like relationship between day and night, plant and root, seen and unseen. Through drawing, proportion studies, digital design, and weaving, the imagery of the third day takes on a spatial and tactile reality.

Gathering Waters – The Flow Toward Life

This section visualizes the moment when water begins to gather—its flow converging into a center, suggesting an invisible gravitational rhythm. The layered lines in various shades of blue and black depict not only the dynamics of fluid motion, but also the silent force that draws all things into one.

In the second drawing, green rectangles—representing sprouting plants—are interspersed among the lines of flowing water. This overlapping symbolizes the direct link between water’s movement and the emergence of life, echoing the third day of creation: the gathering of seas and the appearance of vegetation.

Together, these drawings form a conceptual and visual transition from formless flow to structured growth.

Light and darkness were divided, the land appeared, and plants began to grow. Within this unfolding order, the lights of the sky take their place—and time begins to move.

Artist Notes

At some point, waters gathered and the land appeared. From that stillness, plants began to rise—and an invisible order slowly took form.

I tried to capture the moment when light and darkness first parted, when the sky took its shape as a circle and the earth as a square—quietly in balance.

In the rhythm of roots, the silent geometry of growth, I sensed a pulse that was not seen but deeply felt.

And then came the next moment—when the lights in the sky begin to move into place. Beyond the divide of day and night, time begins to flow.
