Little Treasures  (2024)

Group exhibition curated by Trevisan International Art (TIA)

This curated group exhibition celebrated the richness and precision of small-format artworks. Hosted annually since 2008 at Galleria De Marchi in Bologna, Little Treasures is one of TIA’s most renowned international exhibitions, showcasing four 20×20 cm works by each artist. Soo Youn Kim contributed a circular painting series that extends her ongoing visual inquiry Time Flows with Holy Heptagon, in a miniature yet conceptually coherent form.

RE:VISION (2024)

20th Anniversary Group Exhibition

To mark the 20th anniversary of Galerie Nord | Kunstverein Tiergarten, the gallery hosted the exhibition RE:VISION, presenting works from over 120 artists who had previously exhibited there in the past two decades. The show reflected on the gallery’s evolving identity and cultural contribution through an archival and performative installation format.

Soo Youn Kim contributed to this milestone project with one of her signature works on time and rhythm. The exhibition also included a limited-edition publication featuring selected artworks as part of the gallery’s anniversary archive.

FOCUS ART FAIR – Paris (2022)

At the international contemporary art fair FOCUS ART FAIR held at Carrousel du Louvre, Paris (1–4 September 2022), Soo Youn Kim presented eight works, including six pieces from the Time flows with holy heptagon series, Moon Calendar 2014, Jindo, and a lightbox piece Die Tiefe der Zeit und das heilige Siebeneck_Ver.2020. The booth also featured a monitor screening artist films and video works from the Moon Calendar series, offering a multi-sensory experience that combined geometry, light, time, and sound.

PHILO-POEM (2021)

M.A.D.S. Art Gallery, Milan, Italy

Soo Youn Kim participated in the international multimedia exhibition PHILO-POEM, held from May 21 to 31, 2021, at M.A.D.S. Art Gallery in Milan, Italy. The gallery’s immersive digital setup included large-scale monitors, touchscreens, and projections across two floors. Kim’s work was presented within this innovative format, engaging audiences through a poetic visual language rooted in light, geometry, and rhythm. The show provided artists with dedicated promotional content, critical review, and interactive presentation spaces, blending poetic thought with contemporary art.

Florence Biennale (2021)

Soo Youn Kim was selected as a participating artist at the 13th Florence Biennale, held at Fortezza da Basso in Florence, Italy from October 23 to 31, 2021. Her booth featured a multimedia installation combining circular paintings from the Time flows with holy heptagon series, the large-scale work Moon Calendar 2021_Florence, a curated selection of drawings, and a video piece. This constellation of works explored the harmony of time, rhythm, and geometry through visual and auditory dimensions.


Underneath (2020)

Galerie Nord | Kunstverein Tiergarten, Berlin, Germany

In the group exhibition Underneath at Galerie Nord, Berlin, Soo Youn Kim presented works that explore the interplay of celestial geometry and sonic translation. Her installations focused on the positions of the sun and moon as a notational system, visualized through precise arrangements of circles and tonal scores. The concept of translation—from light to sound, from astronomical movement to visual rhythm—formed the core of her contribution, reflecting her ongoing interest in mapping time and cosmic patterns through abstract yet measurable forms.


Teilchenbeschleuniger (2019)

Spinnerei Leipzig, Leipzig, Germany

The group exhibition Teilchenbeschleuniger (literally “Particle Accelerator”) was held at Spinnerei Leipzig in September 2019, as part of the Spinnerei Rundgang. The exhibition showcased recent works by alumni from Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle. Soo Youn Kim was one of the eight selected artists, presenting her time-based visual and sound-oriented works that explore the intersection of cosmology, geometry, and rhythm. The exhibition was curated by Stefan Hurtig.


Design Art Fair
(2019)

Hangaram Art Museum, Seoul Arts Center, Seoul, South Korea

To celebrate its 10th anniversaryDesign Art Fair 2019 presented a special exhibition titled “10 Subtle Boundaries at the Hangaram Art Museum, Seoul Arts Center. Selected for the 6th New Generation Award, Soo Youn Kim showcased works that explore the perception of time through visual and auditory media.

Her presentation included Seasonal ColorsMoon Calendar 2017Time Notes, and Time Spiral. Visitors could experience the shifting visuals of Moon Calendar 2017 by moving around the work, perceiving changes depending on their position. The sound piece TimeSound—a musical translation of temporal data—was presented both through headphones and as ambient audio in the exhibition space, allowing for a multi-sensory encounter with the flow of time.
